MBABANE – The Swaziland Building Society (SBS) is all out to develop tennis in the country after splashing E140 000 to the ENTA for the 2019/ 20 season.

The sponsorship saw an increment of E20 000 from last season’s E120 000. SBS Managing Director Tim Nhleko handed over the lucrative cheque to the Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs, Harries ‘Madze’ Bulunga and ENTA President Maxwell Jele yesterday morning at Mountain Inn.

A large chunk of the sponsorship will go towards the development. Nhleko said the relationship between ENTA and the Society comes from far and it started from humble beginnings.
“Over the year, the association has grown and it has a potential of growing further. The association has grown because both parties share a number of values including nurturing, unearthing appropriately and professionally talent.

vision

“We have a vision and mission to grow tennis so that is becomes a force to be reckoned with even beyond borders. We believe that tennis can make an international breakthrough and that good and rewarding careers can be built from the sport,” he said.
“Everybody knows that exercise, getting fit and staying healthy are all ingredients of a good athlete. Physical activity can improve health and the quality of life. Our pay-off line reads as follows ‘creating wealth for customers’.
“We also believe that health is one form of wealth as you can develop to your full potential with a good health. We believe that through tennis, we are building further capacity of the communities to grow in health and in the development of skills in tennis,” he added.

Minister Bulunga said they hoped that the partnership between the Society and the tennis association would serve as an inspiration to many other companies and organisations to partner with sports.

excitement

“Indeed, Eswatini sport is ready to partner with everyone and all our partners will definitely see the value of their input. I have also noted with excitement that over the last months, the association has been able to partake in an increased number of international tournaments, once again through support received from the Society,” he said.

Bulunga said he hoped the partnership between the two parties continue to grow as it is through such partnership that the country can achieve First World status by 2022.
