EZULWINI – Competing closer to home is a welcomed change for ace golfer Nobuhle Dlamini.

After a dominant display in the Sunshine Ladies Tour in South Africa, where she won two tournaments; the Lobamba-born golfer is back on home turf. She is competing in the ladies section of the Investec Royal Swazi Open, where she is in pursuit of a share from a E1.5 million purse. The tournament is taking place at Royal Swazi Golf Course in Ezulwini.

The winner in the ladies division will pocket E72 000. This is according to the prize breakdown, which is on display at the host venue.
Yesterday marked round two out of four. Nobuhle started the tournament on a high note and she was second yesterday behind South Africa’s Tandi McCallum, who was two points clear. The 27-year-old was still in action during a stop at Ezulwini yesterday and she was yet to respond to messages sent to her phone by 6:20pm yesterday.

Unlike the usual stroke-play format, at this event points are awarded based on the number of strokes taken at each hole, making it possible for players to play attacking golf.

The biggest share will expectedly go to the golfer who will win in the men category. He will take home a whopping E237 750.  Leading the pack after round two was South Africa’s Martin Rohwer who carded a four-under-par 68 to earn himself 12 points. This took his overall tally for the week to 30 and he retained his top spot.

Eswatini’s hopes were on youngster James Pennington, who turned professional in the past year. He missed the cut yesterday.
Meanwhile, golfers from as far as Scotland, England and Portugal are also competing in the tournament.
