TAMBANKULU – Mbabane Citizens have been relegated. This is after they lost 5-1 to strong title contenders Green Mamba here yesterday in a one sided Premier League encounter.

The stakes were high for Citizens as they needed nothing but a win and had to hope that Tambuti lose against Manzini Sea Birds. The former won 2-0. As things stand the Charles Manda-led charges are on 16 points with two games to go. Even if they win the remaining two games, they will not leapfrog Tambuti, who are on 24 points. They can only play to finish the league second from bottom and hope Vovovo drops points

. Vovovo still have a chance to survive the axe as they can finish third from bottom if they win their remaining games as currently they are on 19 points. Tambuti have to drop points for Vovovo to survive the axe. Only two teams are relegated at the end of the season and Citizens are already relegated candidates.

For Green Mamba the results ensured that they are still in pursuit of glory as they are currently third with 49 points with three games to go. Leaders Royal Leopard are perched on the top with 54 points.

The Correctional side should be grateful to have Musa Dlamini, who scored quadruple to inspire Mamba to a 5-1 emphatic victory. Dlamini is entitled to E5 000 as it is now a norm during Y’ello Sunday games for a players that scores over three goals.

collision

Beside Citizens being relegated, there is more to write home about as in the second half (65th minute) the Premier League of Eswatini was once again in the spotlight for the wrong reasons as two players were involved in a head on collision; such that some of the over 50 spectators were heard questioning the existence of paramedics in the stadium.

There were no paramedics during the game, the players in question, Green Mamba’s Kwenzokuhle Khumalo and Citizens’ Mcolisi Bhembe had to be administered first aid by team doctors.Bhembe’s injury was not so serious as he was treated and returned to play immediately.
Khumalo’s head had to be bandaged as he was bleeding profusely and the game had to be stopped for close to five minutes.

dragging

He returned to play but 10 minutes later he was seen dragging his feet and called for the referee Lucky Ndlangamandla to be excused from the game. For close to 10 minutes Green Mamba doctors were seen treating him. When questioned after the game they said the injury was not that bad as it was a cut in the head. Barely three days, the elite was in the spotlight following the demise of Malanti Chiefs player Papy Faty, who had to be transferred  to hospital using the coach’s car as there were no paramedics on the day.

Coming to the game, the visiting side created an avalanche of chances in the first half but only managed to score one in the entire 45 minutes. Musa, who has 15 goals to his name and currently the league top scorer, scored via a volley in the 10th minute. The game went into a breather with the home side trailing 0-1.
After a minute into resumption, Musa was on target once again as he broke through two defenders and dribbled past the goalkeeper Sandile Dlamini to make it 2-0
Mcolisi Mkhontfo made it 3-0 after tapping a Phinda Dlamini cross in the 68 minutes.
The Charles Manda-side pulled one through substitute Samkeliso Dlamini who finished from close range after intercepting a Mancoba Vilakati cross with 10 minutes to spare.

The Caleb Ngwenya side proved they wanted it more as Musa scored two quick goals in the 83rd and 85th minute. In both goals he scored almost in a similar fashion as he took defenders on a solo run before unleashing powerful shots much to the excitement of the over 30 Green Mamba fans.
