MBABANE – Golfer Sive Dlamini is claiming his place among the big boys. Dlamini celebrated a fifth MTN Masters Golf title after winning the April 2019 leg, which was played in Individual Stableford format at Mbabane Golf Club last Saturday.

He beat a strong field of 59 golfers after carding an unmatched 41 points.  He shook off Dr H. Nida in the race for the top spot. The latter finished on 40 points. Dr Nida also won ahead of Dumisani Msibi on count back.

Dlamini, who was the champ of champs in 2016, dedicated the fifth championship to the golfer who introduced him to the game.
“This win is dedicated to Mduduzi Mtsetfwa (EEC). He introduced me to golf.
“Apparently, it was his birthday on Tuesday, but unfortunately he lost his mother two days later,” said the champion.

Meanwhile, Saturday’s tournament was coupled with the launch of an increased purse for the 2019 events. It shot up from E150 000 to E160 000. In reaction to the continued partnership, Mbabane Golf Club lauded MTN for the significant contribution to the sport’s development.
“The club is already a registered MTN Mobile Money vendor.

“I’d like to make a special plea to our members and the entire golfing community to support MTN Eswatini,” said club vice Captain Sifiso Dhlamini. The latter was speaking on behalf of captain Genius Sihlongonyane.
The tournaments are played monthly and the winners earn points to join the race for the Champ of Champs, which will be played at the end of the season.
