PIGG’S PEAK – Black Swallows are celebrating their maiden qualification to the Premier League in style.
The northern Hhohho outfit thrashed relegated Warriors 6-1 before their over 300 home fans to win promotion with two games to spare. It was a double celebration of winning both the league and promotion after closest challengers Milling Hotspurs, Madlenya and Tinyosi all lost their games played simultaneously across different venues yesterday.
Spurs suffered a 1-2 loss to Hub Sundowns while Madlenya were beaten 1-0 by Seven Dreams. Tinyosi went down 1-2 to Hlatikhulu Tycoons.
Win
Even if second-placed Spurs win both their remaining games, they will not match Black Swallows’ 45-point tally. If Spurs win both their games, they will end on 44 points while Tinyosi can finish on 41.
Ensuring that the George Madira-led ensemble gained promotion and took home the E150 000 first prize were hat-trick hero and former Mbabane Highlanders striker Allen Mabuza,Mbuso Dladla and Ghanian striker Panawe Talbousouma
However, the game looked balanced in the first half as both teams were at level-pegging during the break. Warriors’ Lwazi Forbes cancelled out Panawe’s goal at the stroke of halftime.
He benefitted from a goalmouth scramble to force the game into 1-all draw in the first stanza. Panawe had opened the deadlock nine minutes into the game from a tap-in. However, after resumption, it was a totally different ball game altogether as the home side scored five more goals.
