MBABANE – Mbabane Golf Club’s partnership with MTN Eswatini is a match made in heaven.

The giant mobile company pumped in a revised E160 000 towards the MTN Monthly Masters Golf tournament. Acting CEO Sibusiso Nhleko announced the revised package, which is an increment of E10 000 as compared to the past year.

The revised purse was announced before 60 excited golfers and guests after the April leg of the event at Mbabane Golf Club yesterday.
In his address, Nhleko appreciated the support from the golfers, dubbing his company a friend of sport.

“We appreciate the support from both the golfers and the golf union. We’re friends of sports, especially golf,” he said.
An appreciative Sifiso Dhlamini from Mbabane Golf Club, who spoke on behalf of captain Genius Sihlongonyane,  celebrated the over 10-year partnership, highlighting that the Masters was a crowd-puller, as almost every golfer in the country had a ‘Y’ello experience.

“We appreciate the support of MTN Eswatini in the development of golf. We’ll handle the sponsor with extreme care and ensure golfers benefit the most.
“This is a good investment in people who are passionate about the sport. We will allow the sponsor’s female employees free access to the golf course,” he said.

At least 60 golfers competed in the April instalment of the event yesterday and the seasoned Sive Dlamini carded an unmatched 41 points to claim the main prizes. He got a trophy, among other prizes.

Executives from MTN, who included Meshack Maseko and Chief Marketing Officer Sylvia Utuo - Acheampong, also made a stop at the venue to witness the launch. The latter said it was her first time on the golf course, assuring that she would be more than a ‘tourist’ next time. She did not play yesterday, but just strolled about 10km without a golf club.
