MBABANE – Hard work pays. The kingdom’s heavyweight bodybuilder, Tony Dlamini, was yesterday presented with E2 000 worth of supplements and boosters, courtesy of Manzini Link-med Pharmacy.

This presentation came after Dlamini hoisted the country’s flag during the Champions Arise Qualifiers for the upcoming Arnold Classic Sports Festival and Trade Expo, billed for May 17 until 19.

The competition was held on March 9, 2019 at Potchefstroom in South Africa. He was the first Eswatini bodybuilder to qualify for the Arnold Classic Africa under the 77kg category, after outclassing other powerlifters to claim a bronze medal.

The sponsorship came as fruits of his dedication and excelling in the sport, which he said was a motivation for him and other athletes who would be competing in Maputo over the weekend. Some of the Nutritional Performance Labs (NPL) products that Dlamini received were organ support capsules, 8 in 1 vitamin pack, yellow army stainless steel shaker, test surge, creataine, and ultra-energy drinks. Dlamini thanked Link-med for the kind gesture, stating that all the products were essentials for his sport and would help him prepare better for the Arnaldo Classic competition.

importance

Expatiating on the importance of the supplements, Dlamini said they were all that a bodybuilder needed as they contained the required nutrients, antioxidants, testosterone, proteins, vitamins and selenium, which are all essential for muscle growth and relaxation.

“I am highly honoured to Link-med for trusting me with the responsibility of achieving and promoting their brand. Bodybuilding is a financially demanding sport and most bodybuilders lack the strong financial muscle to afford all the necessary supplements. Being a highly-driven individual, I believe that I will do them proud by excelling in my future endeavours and looking forward to one day being hailed as NPL ambassador in the country and abroad,” he said.

warned

With only three days before the Maputo Classic kicks off, a dozen of the kingdom’s bodybuilders are gearing up for the stage which will also be an Arnold Classic qualifiers competition. Dlamini advised them to be cautious of spill overs and warned them to completely reduce sodium levels.

“Good luck to the team which will be representing us in Maputo on Saturday. My advice to them is that they should stop training at least two days before taking the stage to avoid unnecessary injuries and be cautious of water intake which can negatively affect their performance,” he added.

Dlamini was also invited to Maputo, not as a competitor but as a guest pose. He further reminded the athletes to bring along their posing trunks and pro-tan body spray.
