MBABANE – Ishibobo Academy Founder Mbongeni ‘Mashibobo’ Simelane has unpacked more plans following recognition during the National Sports Awards.

Ishibobo alongside the Mbabane Municipal Council, SMK Academy and newly-formed Kusekhaya Cycling Club, got special awards during the ceremony held at Esibayeni Lodge in Matsapha last Saturday night. It was in recognition of their selfless efforts in promoting sports in all sectors.

In reaction to the award, Simelane said the academy was all about making a better society through sports.
“Our future plan is to introduce the gospel in sports.
“Our doors are open to coaches who are born-again and willing to deal with the children,” he said.

Simelane, who thanked the Swaziland National Sport and Recreation Council (SNSRC) for the recognition, stressed on the need to reach for the stars, but acknowledged it was difficult to fulfil most of their dreams without money.

Things needed by the academy include technical equipment, refreshments and transport.
“We hope that one day a big company will adopt the academy.

“We’re guided by Bible principles. Whatever you do, work at it wholeheartedly as though you were doing it for the Lord and not merely for people,” he said.
Ishibobo has produced good players for teams that include Manzini Wanderers, national Under-17s and Madlenya FC.

A majority of the players play in the country’s football third-tier, which is widely known as the Super League.
The academy was launched about nine years ago and six players were under their care at the time. The membership has since shot up to 150.
