MBABANE – Struggling Premier League side Tambuti have reportedly cut ties with Mali-born mentor Alou Badara.

Tambuti and the former Mbabane Highlanders coach are said to have parted ways yesterday with five games left before the curtain falls on the MTN Premier League season.  He had signed a one-year contract until the end of the current season.
Badara joined the Lubombo-based ensemble at the start of the season, replacing Texan Phiri, who only managed to guide the side to a 10th place finish in the 2017/18 campaign. When Badara left yesterday, the sugar-belt outfit were languishing third from the bottom of the log with 20 points in 21 attempts.

respectable

The coach has also failed to lead his side to a respectable finish in the two cup tournaments, namely the Ingwenyama and EswatiniBank Cup. They did not even reach the last eight.
Badara was with National First Division side Hub Sundowns last season before he joined Tambuti. He also had a stint with capital city side, Highlanders, in the 2016/17 campaign. This is not the first time he has coached Tambuti.  In the 2015/16 season, he was in charge of the ensemble before he was snatched by Highlanders.

An impeccable source alleged the coach was called to answer on the team’s recent league campaign before the big decision.
relegated
“We are third from bottom on the log standings with five games to go. The coach was tasked to at least lead the team to the top eight. However, he could not achieve that. The team might be relegated and he should have known better before penning the contract,” said the source.

When called for comment, Tambuti PRO Nathie Dlamini confirmed that they had parted ways with the coach.
“It was good to work with the coach but unfortunately, our relationship with him had to come to an end,” Dlamini said.
When asked about a replacement, the PRO said they were yet to discuss the issue of a new coach.

“Meanwhile, we have the assistant coach, Mgonodi Sidell, who will be drilling the team while management deliberates on finding a replacement for Badara,” added the PRO.

reachable

Efforts to get a comment from Badara were futile as his mobile number was not reachable on for the better part of the day, with reports suggesting that he was out of the country. It was reliably gathered that Moneni Pirates coach Terisayi Changara could be the man to replace the Mali-born coach. Changara said despite that he was attached to Pirates, if any team tabled an attractive offer, he could accept it. He said he  had not heard anything formal from Tambuti.
Out of the 20 games, Badara only managed to win five games. He drew five and lost 11.
