MBABANE – Eswatini bodybuilders are ready, locked and loaded for the upcoming Maputo Classic Bodybuilding Competition.
The event is billed for April 13, 2019 in Maputo at Gilberto Mendes, starting from 1pm until 4pm.

Representing the Kingdom of Eswatini will be a dozen ‘built but not bough’ powerlifts, led by Arnaldo Barbosa, renowned as the kingdom’s face of bodybuilding and fitness coach based at Mbabane Club Gym.

The competition precedes the Arnaldo Classic Africa Championships which will be held in Pretoria to be announced on a later date.

categories

Competing categories are men’s physique, classic bodybuilding from 68kg to 79kg, bikini fitness, bodybuilding ranging from 70kg, 80kg and 90kg and beach body category.
Senzo Dlamini, who trains at Mahhala Fitness zone, promised to hoist the kingdom’s flag in Maputo, stating that their fitness levels were sky high.
He will be competing in the Over 90kg division.

“We are ready to take the stage in the Maputo Classic and I am confident to come up on top in my division. We hosted the Mozambican bodybuilders in the last Barbosa Classic and we are aware of their strengths and weaknesses,” said Dlamini.

He said they have had enough preparation time since the last competition and were focusing on the finishing touches in the remaining three weeks.
Dlamini said his future goal was to stretch his focus beyond the African horizon and become Mr Olympia.

“This is my year and time to shine. As per our slogan, ‘no pain no gain’ and I am determined to strive to greater heights,” added Dlamini.
Barbosa said he would not be competing but was invited by the hosts of the competition to be a judge.

Strong

He, however, said he was taking along a very strong team that would bring home the best results and podium silverware. “I trust them so well and we have a few weeks to work on the finishing touches as we have had enough time to bulk up and the next two weeks to shred until competition date,” said Barbosa.
He advised his team to follow their pre-competition journal and stick to the prescribed diet.
