MBABANE – The loss against Young Buffaloes in the finals of the Ingwenyama Cup is still a bitter pill to swallow for Mbabane Highlanders loyalists.
Buffaloes humiliated Highlanders 4-1 to claim the Ingwenyama Cup title two days ago at Somhlolo National Stadium. Yesterday morning, the team’s Public Relations Officer (PRO) Paul ‘Magidz’eludzakeni’ Masilela lost his cool on national radio the Eswatini Broadcasting and Information Services’ (EBIS) morning Sports Show.

The charismatic spokesperson minced no words that they felt it was improper for the opposition’s boss and Army Commander Sobantu Dlamini to point at the Mbabane giants’ supporters during the Ingwenyama Cup final game when Buffaloes scored more goals against Highlanders. “It is not something right to do for the chairman to point at our supporters when they (Buffaloes) score,” said Masilela.

He added that he felt it was also improper for Buffaloes players to celebrate one of their winning goals in front of the throngs of hurting Highlanders supporters.

This, according to Masilela, was the same reason that infuriated some of the supporters who ended up acting in an unacceptable manner, which could land the Mbabane outfit in trouble. Some fans threw cans in reaction to the celebration. The Sports show host, Moses Matsebula, had to interject before the PRO could say more.

In reaction to the national radio outburst, the army commander said Highlanders should do introspection instead of whining like babies. “We said we would beat them and we did just that. They failed to defeat us after bragging that they would win against us. They should stand up, dust themselves off and continue to fight,” said Dlamini.

He said Highlanders must be aware, however, that they will defeat them again in future. “It is no use to complain. They should man up and accept defeat. It is just football. Do they expect us to send soldiers to assault them when they defeat us?” he asked rhetorically.

The army commander urged Highlanders to whimper elsewhere if they failed to accept the fact that one must be beaten in the game.
