STEVE HALL’S E10 000 BOOST FOR THANDO

MBABANE – Eswatini future tennis star, Thando Bhembe, yesterday received E10 000 sponsorship from Steve Hall Development Consultancy Company.
The sponsorship presentation was conducted at Mbabane Coronation Park Tennis Courts.

Accepting the sponsorship replica cheque on behalf of the junior tennis player was Swaziland Tennis Association’s President, Maxwell Jele and coach Jerry Fears Mohamed.


Jele extended his appreciation towards the sponsor for supporting the junior player, stating that the financial aid would go a long way into facilitating Bhembe’s goal of being selected for the international tennis scholarship. He said Hall’s sponsorship was testimony that companies and individuals were willing to collaborate in this youth empowerment initiative and further invited more sponsors to follow suit.

“In order to be selected for the international tennis scholarship, the player has to participate and excel in numerous international tournaments, and this is an aggressive programme which requires a strong financial muscle. We are grateful to Steve Hall for this kind gesture and we are pleading with the private sector to come on board and help the junior players achieve this goal,” said the president.


Responding on his decision to sponsor tennis, Steve Hall, who has a long-term association with the sports fraternity, said he has sponsored other sporting codes in the past, such as soccer, cricket, rugby and tennis.

Hall and the junior tennis player have a developed a good relationship and Bhembe’s dedication and success in tournaments motivated him to support him work to work towards achieving his dreams.


“Every year I give something to sports because sports play a major role in the development of the youth’s future. Sports instil self-discipline and keep children focused while protecting them from engaging in self-destructive indulgencies such as drugs and alcohol.

Thando is a dedicated and hardworking player and I would like to contribute in his goal and hope that he will hoist the kingdom’s flag in the near future,” said Hall.

The sponsor further mentioned that it was important to invest in other sports which do not always get the glory as compared to more prominent and high profiled sports such as soccer. The junior player thanked Hall’s sponsorship, mentioning that the international sponsorship would give him an opportunity to get high quality education in America, while pursuing his dream of being a professional and internationally recognised tennis player.


“I am very grateful to Mr Steve Hall for his support, and he also bought me tennis shoes which are very comfortable and motivate me to work even harder. I will do my best to qualify for the international scholarship and make my country proud,’’ said Bhembe.
