MBABANE – The country has received about 40 balls from Africa Rugby. Swaziland Rugby Union (SRU) President Simanga Magagula was attending a continental summit in Morocco, where the presentation was made to member countries after an elective general assembly last week.

“We are thankful for this gift and teams are expected to receive these balls.
“Eswatini was part of 30 unions’ delegates who participated in the summit as they are the affiliates of Africa Rugby alongside Namibia, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Zambia, among others,” he said.
Magagula reported that Abdelaziz Bougja, who served as Africa Rugby’s head honcho for 17 years, was elected honorary president unanimously.

“The new officers of the Executive Board  include President Khaled Babbou from Tunisia, his deputy  Andrew Owor of Uganda, as  well as Ivory Coast’s Tano Elvis, who is Treasurer. “General Secretary is Jurie Roux from South Africa. We would like to congratulate them and wish them all the best as we’re working together in seeing the game of rugby becoming the major sport in Africa,” said Magagula.

Magagula, on the other hand, announced plans to have three league divisions this season. The league will involve seniors, juniors, and women rugby teams.
