MANZINI – She is now the queen of the road. That is TZD  Athletics Club athlete Sithembile Nzalo who once against shone during the Tuff One 21km race yesterday, outclassing Royal Eswatini Police Services (REPS) senior athlete Winile Mnisi. This was her second victory as she also cruised to victory during the Epilepsy Yellow Half Marathon at Sikhuphe a fortnight ago.

Nzalo crossed the finish line in 1:38:35 hours while Mnisi was second. The latter clocked 1:41:36 hours. This was not good times for both athletes as they  could not improve on their Epilepsy Half Marathon in Sikhuphe.
Nzalo took home the first prize of E2 600 while Mnisi pocketed E1 600. Nzalo clocked 1:36:22 hours while Mnisi was second in 1:40:56 during the Epilepsy Yellow Half Marathon.

Nzalo said it was a more difficult race than the Epilepsy marathon.
“There were lot of steep hills during this race but I’m happy that I performed well and came first. I’m still not at my best as I have to work hard and win more races and also start doing well at international level,” she said.

Meanwhile, there was shocker in the males 21km when 19-year-old Sipho Mndzebele took home the first prize, outclassing senior runners including Melusi Sihlongonyane, Michael Ndaba and Nkululeko Gama.

The Umbutfo Eswatini Defence Force (EUDF) athlete finished first in 1:14:53 hours while coming second was teammate Machawe Dlamini. The latter reached the winning point after 1:15:08 hours. Defending champion Melusi Sihlongonyane was fourth in 1:15:52 hours.
