MATSAPHA – Army side Young Buffaloes have won all five editions of the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) Under-17 League.

They won it when it was started five years ago, sponsored by the PLE before Esibayeni Lodge took over as sponsors, to date. This has not gone unnoticed as Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Minister Harries ‘Madze’ Bulunga made note of it in yesterday’s launch of the fourth Esibayeni Lodge Under-17 League edition in the company’s premises at Matsapha.

challenge

“I am throwing a challenge to all the clubs to give us new champions in this edition. I’m not saying Buffaloes shouldn’t win it because they could still be above all of you and do it again. It is upon the other teams to stop them and win it for the first time,” Bulunga said.

He said it was one of the things he picked from the teams’ officials when he arrived at Esibayeni Lodge as one of them proudly said ‘this is already written our name on it’ and that was Buffaloes. He also encouraged clubs not cheat and use over-aged players but make great use of this beautiful platform offered by the company.

“Therefore, I would like to condemn, in the strongest of terms, age cheating and all other practices that undermine the image of our beautiful sponsor and football in general.

stance

“The PLE must take a hard stance against all clubs, be it officials, players, technical staff or supporters that will put the good name of the sponsor and football into disrepute,” he said.
He also encouraged that the youngsters be taught necessary values, including respect and fair play as besides building future football stars, they also had to be men of good standing in society.
decried
Bulunga further decried the fact that some clubs appeared not to be committed to their development sides but doing it only for the PLE Rules and Regulations to have development sides, encouraging them to change that attitude and commit fully for proper progress.
His words were reiterated by PLE CEO Simanga Nhleko who said it was disappointing that some teams even failed to register the development teams which just proved how right Bulunga was about commitment or the lack of it.
