MBABANE – Former Mbabane Swallows crafty midfielder  Banele ‘Pupu’ Sibandze is working his way back into South Africa’s Polokwane City senior team after starring in the MDC team over the weekend.

Sikhondze scored a brace as the Premier Soccer League (PSL) side held Cape Town City 2-2 in the Multichoice Diski Challenge clash played at Makhulong Stadium in Tembisa on Saturday. He scored in the 34th and 88th minute and was named man of the match afterwards.

The latest performance by the former Swallows midfielder would sound like sweet melody to the ears of new Sihlangu coach Kostadin Papic who stressed how it is important for the South Africa-based players to be performing well as they would not be automatically walking straight into the national team set-up.

Papic is expected to announce his team to face Tunisia away in Tunis in the final group match of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers next week.
Interviewed yesterday, Sikhondze said he is working on winning back his place in the starting line up of the senior team.

“Playing in the MDC team has helped me regain my confidence and I will continue working hard so that I can get back to the senior team. The technical team encourages me a lot,” Sikhondze said.
