MBABANE – It is a double dose of the past weekend’s MTN Premier League fixtures in the EswatiniBank Cup Last 16 stage.

Mbabane Highlanders take on Matsapha United while it is also a repeat of the Manzini derby as Manzini Wanderers will cross swords with Manzini Sundowns whom they thrashed 2-0 on Sunday at Somhlolo National Stadium.

The ‘Black Bull’ beat Matsapha, otherwise known as ‘Bogandaganda’ 3-1 at Nsukuwansuku Stadium during the league match. It will be the first time the two teams meet in the EswatiniBank Cup since its inception in 2014.

They have met two times apart from this weekend’s fixture. They first played a league match at the same venue where Highlanders won 1-0. ‘Bogandaganda’ were also booted out of this year’s edition of the Ingwenyama Cup quarter-finals by the capital city giants after suffering a 0-1 defeat at Somhlolo National Stadium.

Wanderers versus Sundowns clash will not be the first time the Manzini giants meet in this tournament, they met in the 2018 edition and Wanderers won in sudden death penalties.

In 2011, The ‘Kappa boys’ won 2-1 against Wanderers to be crowned champions of the Swazi Telecom Charity Cup. The draw was conducted yesterday at the EswatiniBank Auditorium where the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) President Adam ‘Bomber’ Mthethwa and the bank’s Managing Director (MD) Zakhele Lukhele were present among other football officials.
