MDUDUZI SHINES IN 94TH PARKRUN

MBABANE – Athlete Mduduzi Dlamini yesterday emerged as the hero of the 94th edition of the Mbabane parkrun.

The weekly 5km race, which attracted 100 runners, started and finished at Mbabane Club. Dlamini clocked an impressive 16:48 minutes, beating Sibusiso Shabangu to the top spot. The latter finished in 16:52 minutes. Completing the top three was Siyabonga Masuku on 17:36 minutes. Shining in the ladies category was Gugu Mthembu on 22:34 minutes with Simphiwe Gama coming  second on 23:27 minutes. In third, Gcinile Magongo clocked 26:11 minutes.

Meanwhile, the numbers were slightly less than last week’s. Over 100 runners had taken part in the 93rd edition, which saw many coming in red in the spirit of Valentine’s Day and the parkrun organisers pampered all participants with chocolates and cards to promote love. Winning the ‘love race’ last week was Swazi Slojos athlete Zwelithini Mndzebele in 16:10 minutes while Delisile Ngubane was first in the ladies’ division in 29:12 minutes.
