EZULWINI – Champions of the 16th edition of EswatiniBank Cup Solo Inje edition will pocket a whopping E1.1 million.

This shows an increment of E100 000 as compared to the past year. It is a share from the revised E2.9 million purse launched before guests led by Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Harries ‘Madze’ Bulunga at a glittering ceremony at Royal Swazi Spa Convention Centre in Ezulwini yesterday.
The package for the festivities to be played under the Solo Inje slogan, has also shot up by E300 000 as compared to the past year.

Announcing the package of the tournament, which is being played under the Eswatini banner for the first time, the reputable financial institution’s Managing Director Zakhele Lukhele said the bank was proud to be associated with football and would remain on board in future.
“Notable changes in this year’s sponsorship include runners-up prize which has been increased from E450 000 to E500 000.

“Semi-finals losers’ prize has been increased from E120 000 to E125 000,” said Lukhele.
The best coach, according to Lukhele, will get an extra E1 000 as compared to the past year. The new prize money for the category is E10 000.

Like in the past year, Lukhele announced that the tournament, which kicks off this weekend, will be a three-in-one, as it will feature Under-20s and women. The latter’s tournament was launched with a E75 000 package last year. It has since been doubled and the 16 women football league teams will be in action.

“It is our wish that this year’s tournament be a success like the past editions and I urge teams to continue with the spirit of fair play,” appealed the MD.
The kick-off date of the ladies tournament, whose draw was also conducted yesterday, will be confirmed in due course. The package for the Under-20s is E240 000.
Representatives from the country’s supreme sport bodies, who included Eswatini Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (EOCGA) President Peter Shongwe and CEO Sidney Simelane, as  well as football bigwigs led by Eswatini Football Association President Adam ‘Bomber’ Mthethwa, witnessed the launch.
