EZULWINI – Minister of Sport, Culture and Youth Affairs Harries ‘Madze’ Bulunga is concerned about the welfare of teams competing in knockout tournaments.

In yesterday’s launch of the prestigious EswatiniBank Cup at Royal Swazi Spa Convention Centre in Ezulwini, Bulunga appealed that prize money should be increased across the board to benefit all the teams, instead of the champions only.

distributed

“We appreciate the involvement of regional teams in the tournament, but we pray that the participation fees should be distributed early to assist the smaller sides in preparing for the games.
“This message is not directed at the sponsor. We still need to discuss it further in-house,” said the minister.

In his address, the minister, who still had fond memories of his stint with Umbelebele Jomo Cosmos, who lost 0-1 to Mbabane Highlanders in the 2010 final, dubbed EswatiniBank a lifetime partner of football following the 16 years on board.

“Without the commitment of EswatiniBank, we wouldn’t have this iconic tournament, whose popularity and importance go beyond the borders of our beautiful kingdom,” he said.
The minister further appealed to the public to embrace the promotions offered by the bank.
