‘MADZE’ FOR ESWATINI BANK CUP LAUNCH

MBABANE – Feel it, it is here. The 16th edition of the EswatiniBank Cup will be officially launched on Monday with the Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Harries ‘Madze’ Bulunga being the main guests. The tournament will be playing for the first time under the new name ‘EswatiniBank Cup’ as it has previously been known as ‘SwaziBank Cup’.

The glamorous event is billed for the Royal Swazi Spa Convention Centre, Ezulwini, starting at 11am. EswatiniBank Public Relations Officer (PRO) Phesheya Vilakati said the Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs,  Bulunga will be the main guest and Managing Director Zakhele Lukhele would announce the sponsorship package, a bank product promotion, whereby the public will stand a chance to win cash prizes, kick-off date and also unveil this year’s slogan.

“The official launch of this year’s EswatiniBank Cup will be on Monday, February 4, 2019. Some of the highlights of the event include a speech by the EswatiniBank Managing Director, Zakhele Lukhele, remarks by Eswatini Football Association (EFA) President Adam ‘Bomber’Mthethwa and the first round draw,” he said.

Vilakati said the winner of the ‘Create EswatiniBank Cup slogan’ competition would be announced during this event. The competition was run in November 2018 and the prize for the winner is E8 000 cash. “Invited guests are kindly requested to be punctual and attendance is strictly by invitation,’ Vilakati concluded. There are 32 teams that will be playing in the tournament, 28 from the MTN Premier League, National First Division and four teams come from the four Super League’s. The defending champions are Young Buffaloes, who defeated Manzini Wanderers 2-1 in front of His Majesty King Mswati III. The winner of this tournament represents the country in the CAF Confederations Cup.
