MBABANE – He was recently named in the new Manzini Wanderers management.

However, his response at the time when asked if he would be leaving his Mbabane City secretary of the Board of Directors post and also that of the First Division team’s Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) Board of Governor, was that his Wanderers appointment as legal advisor was a professional one based on his legal duty and had nothing to do with his role at City.

Nonetheless, Mdluli who is also a renowned lawyer, resigned from the club without stating any reasons in his letter.  Mdluli’s resignation letter is dated yesterday and titled ‘Resignation from the team’. It only transpired after speaking to him that indeed it was because of Wanderers he took this decision.
“Kindly find herein my resignation from the team with immediate effect. By extension, you are requested to advise the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) accordingly.

“I wish the team all the best in its current and future undertakings,” reads his letter to City.
Called for confirmation of the letter and its contents, Mdluli, who has been vocal in challenging the 14-team issue, affirmed it all. Questioned on the reasons behind this decision or if it had anything to do with his involvement with Wanderers, he said it was no secret even during the late City boss Reuben ‘Skwaya’ Gwebu’s time that he was always a Wanderers person.

“He called me Mr Wanderers. I’m going to be fully focusing on Wanderers issues now. I’m a football person always but Wanderers is where I started and got recruited by City. I’m home now. There’s nothing sinister only me deciding to fully give Wanderers my attention,” he said.
Meanwhile, one of the team’s directors Innocent ‘Chopper’ Mavuso, who the letter was directed to as chairman of the board, confirmed the latest development.

“We spoke about it with him and gave our blessing. He’s quite busy and wasn’t able to partake in the team’s activities anymore so we all came to agreement about the situation. Otherwise his Wanderers position was on a professional level as a lawyer.

“We believe he will always be Mbabane City and offer his services when his assistance is needed. We’re also grateful for his services while with us and do believe he knows all our people remain City for life,” he said.

Mavuso said currently they would focus on other pressing issues as opposed to worrying about their PLE Board of Governor as they already had the PLE Chairman Peter ‘Touch’ Magagula inside the organisation.
Magagula could not be reached when his comment was sought as he was in a long meeting.
