MBABANE – Could the PLE three-card players’ suspension method have loopholes?

There was uproar within the ‘Buccaneers’ assemble after they felt that their player, Mthunzi ‘Chippa’ Motsa, was wrongly suspended by the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE).

‘Chippa’ had to watch from the side-lines this past weekend when the hub giants suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Royal Leopard during their MTN Premier League match. According to the player, he was serving a suspension of a ‘third’ yellow card he knew nothing about.

“I was shocked to be advised that I would not be taking part during the game because I had accumulated three yellow cards and as per the PLE rules and regulations, I was supposed to serve suspension and not play the next game,” said the player.

The right back said he was quite sure that he had accumulated only two yellow cards and had to be cautioned one more time to serve suspension.

disappointed

“I was really disappointed because I am quite sure that the football administration body made an error and their mistake cost us big time against a crucial league fixture.
Motsa said a follow-up on what really transpired by his team would be great because these are the mistakes that take local football backwards instead of it getting developed. The PLE Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Simanga Nhleko said they still maintained that the player had three yellow cards accumulated.
“We served the team with a letter explaining even the process they should go through if they felt the player was wrongly suspended,” said Nhleko.
He said he could not say their calculating method had loopholes but said any team feeling that they were wrongly accused should compile a formal complaint to the organisation.
