EX-SIHLANGU COACHES MEET IN MTN LEAGUE
MBABANE – Just 57 days ago, they were on the bench coaching the same team.
That is the story of former Sihlangu coaches Anthony Mdluli and Caleb Ngwenya, who recently made way for Serbian Kostadin Papic. Mdluli was Sihlangu interim head coach while Ngwenya was his assistant.
With their focus now on club football, they eye to outshine each other when action continues in the MTN Premier League between tomorrow and Wednesday.
inherited
Ngwenya is in charge of table toppers Green Mamba while Anthony Mdluli has just inherited an improving Manzini Sea Birds. According to a fixture from the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) office, the two sides meet this coming Wednesday at Somhlolo National Stadium at 6:30pm.
Caleb Ngwenya’s men are at the summit of the charts after round 14 with 31 points.
Sea Birds are now sixth with 18 points following Saturday’s 1-0 win over Vovovo in Nhlangano.
It was Mdluli’s first game in charge of ‘Izinyoni Zolwande.’
Ngwenya, whose troops were held by Matsapha United two days ago, said the fixture would be treated like any game, as the target was to get the maximum points.
“There is nothing special except that we need to bounce back after a bad start in the new year,” he said.
No comment could be sourced from Mdluli.
qualifier
Meanwhile, the duo’s last assignment for Sihlangu was back on November 18 last year in the ‘dead rubber’ Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against West Africa minnows Niger.
The latter recorded a 2-1 comeback win.
