‘SAMBA JIVE’ LEADS INGWENYAMA CUP TOP SCORERS

MBABANE – Age aint nothing but just a number for Mbabane Swallows’ Wonder ‘Samba Jive’ Nhleko as he leads the pack in the Ingwenyama Cup top goal scorers award.

The 38-year-old took the lead to four goals after scoring one in the 2-0 win over National First Division Legaue side Rangers on Saturday at King Sobhuza II Memorial Stadium. The top goal scorer will take home E10 000 end of the tournament. The former international player scored a hat-trick in the last 32 match where they beat Young Movers 8-0. ‘The Birds’ are the defending champions having won the tournament since its inauguration in the 2015/ 16 season.

Nhleko said was every players dream to win awards but the team came first before the individual awards. He said they were working hard as a team to defend the title and also set a record.
“It is not just me scoring goals but it is about team work. We are all playing with minds wanting to win and I’m also enjoying my form when it comes to scoring goals. The top goal scorer awards can be a bonus to me,” he said. Coming close to Samba Jive is young star Sizolwethu Shabalala and Tinyosi’s Bongumenzi Dlamini with three goals each. They both scored hat-tricks in the opening games played in December.
