MBABANE – Shiselweni-based Rangers were the first side to return from the Christmas break ahead of the Ingwenyama Cup Last 16 games next weekend.

The National First Division side face holders and three-time champions Mbabane Swallows at King Sobhuza Stadium in Nhlangano next Saturday at 3:30pm. While most teams resumed training two days ago, Rangers returned a day earlier.

Manager/coach at Rangers Thokozani Ndzinisa said they were looking forward to facing the capital city giants, but said there were no special preparations for the fixture.

“We respect Swallows, but we don’t fear them. We don’t need special preparations for the game, as facing Swallows is self-motivating,” he said.
Ndzinisa said the team would want to leave a mark in the tournament, but said their biggest concern was remaining in the National First Division after winning promotion from the regions at the end of the past season.

Rangers, who eliminated Black Swallows with a 2-1 win in the last 32, are one of last three standing teams from the country’s football second-tier. Others are Tinyosi and Madlenya. The three sides are in a race to win E30 000 for the best finisher award on top of the bigger E1.3 million ‘carrot’.
