MBABANE – Some seasoned sports administrators and coaches are back at Manzini Wanderers.

The list of the returnees is headlined by former caretaker coach and retired player Jerry ‘Mbazo’ Gamedze, who is the Technical Director, as well the duo of Girly Johnson and Simeon ‘Malume’ Khumalo, who have been appointed treasurer and manager, respectively.

Wanderers management announced the changes after a meeting with Director Mehluli Nhlengetfwa in Manzini yesterday.
Khumalo once performed managerial duties for Wanderers in the past and was helping his juniors of late to keep busy. Johnson also used to be treasurer at Wanderers over five years ago.

Confirming the latest developments, then CEO Pat Mahlalela, who is now General Manager, said they were humbled by the vote of confidence, stressing on the need to hit the ground running in a bid to change the team’s poor run.

“We have a mandate to improve the performance of the team, as there will be a review at the end of the season.
“On behalf of the entire MC, we are honoured by the trust because running Wanderers is no child’s play,” he said.

Other notable changes include the return of likeable PRO Sandile ‘Ntofo’ Dlamini, who has been temporarily performing the duties on a part time basis. He has been the National Supporters Committee secretary before yesterday’s appointment into the MC.
Marketing Manager Bhekithemba Zwane is another survivor from the old structure.

Meanwhile, there are also major changes in the Thabo ‘Koki’ Vilakati-led technical bench. Velekhaya Mthethwa is no longer the assistant coach, as he makes away for Sindiso Gama, who used to lead former National First Division side Ludzeludze Killers.  The returning Christian Thwala and Bheki Simelane are the new fitness and goalkeeper coach, respectively. Simelane once worked with Mhlambanyatsi Rovers, while Thwala has been in and out of Wanderers, including the ladies team. He was once a caretaker coach in 2010.
