MBABANE – Mbabane Swallows will spend their Christmas at slain boss Victor Gamedze’s home.

Mbabane Swallows team will celebrate both Christmas and Boxing Day at Siteki, Ka-Langa- the home of the team’s late Gamedze.  According to the team’s General manager, Sandil Zwane, celebrating the day at Gamedze’s residence is one of the team’s traditions for the past 15 years. Gamedze was murdered at gun point at Galp filling station at Ezulwini, in the evening of January 14, 2018, a horrific incident that shocked whole kingdom of Eswatini. This year they will once again celebrate the festive holidays at Madlenya’s homestead as per the invitation of his wife and director Princess Lungile Gamedze.

“Our mother has invited us to spend the holidays with the Gamedze family as it it a norm for the Swallows family. Gamedze may not be with us but we are grateful for being the father he was and this celebration will also be in honour of the memories we shared with him,” said Zwane.

Zwane said this would be the 16th year for the team celebrating Christmas at Gamedze’s family. He said, basically, this celebration is about leadership, management and players, where they would also be reflecting on the whole  year and all that they have achieved and lost at the same time.

“We will be having a festive celebration as family because the Gamedze family will always be Birds’ home too.”
Zwane said that this gathering was only for the team and the Gamedze family but said anyone who would happens to be passing nearby, was welcome to join them.
“People should spend this day with their families. Fans are not invited to this festive celebrations but anyone who would be nearby is welcome to share a plate with us,” he said.

He further wished all teams and the whole football fraternity a safe festive and advised them to be cautious of the manner in which they enjoy themselves over the holidays.
