MBABANE - “The EFA has not told me anything official about Sihlangu post.”

These were comments by new Sihlangu coach Kosta Papic. “Well, that’s news to me that I am Sihlangu coach. That is great news because I had applied for the post but I wasn’t told if my application was successful,” Papic said. When asked to comment about his appointment and what could be expected of him, he said; “Not before I sign on paper,” he said. He only started believing the news of his appointment when this reporter sent him a text message on WhatsApp with a copy of the press release by the Eswatini Football Association. “Perfect,” that was his response after reading the press release. He further added that he was happy with the decision of the EFA.

Papic was announced as the new coach yesterday by the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) President Adam ‘Bomber’ Mthethwa during a press conference held at 3pm. Mthethwa was in the company of the EfA Head of Technical Committee Peter ‘Touch’ Magagula, who is also Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) Chairman and ENFA Vice President along with members of his committee. “Touch’ and his technical committee were given the task to get us a new coach as it is true that the national team’s performance is not good and when it is not good, we are concerned. We’ve heard and listened to the public’s comments, so today we announce that the recruitment process has been completed,” Mthethwa briefly said before getting into the matter at hand.

Before announcing the new coach, Mthethwa explained that completion of the recruitment process also meant that “the period of the interim technical bench and national team management has also now come to an end. In this regard, the football association would like to express its appreciation to Anthony Mdluli and his team for holding fort whilst the recruitment process continued, more particularly creating a base of the competitive national team. The new coach is Mr. Kosta Papic. Details on his work will be done once he has arrived in the country, as the coach is expected to work in January 2019, to give him ample time to assess the environment, players to present him with a good opportunity to perform,” he said with a smile.
