MBABANE- The galore of goals in the first round of the Ingwenyama Cup makes the tournament even more exciting.

Minister of Sports Harries ‘Madze’ Bulunga could not hold back his excitement about the heated kick-start of the Ingwenyama Cup Tournament. Bulunga said the escalating number of goals scored in the first round of the tournament was historic and breathtaking. The first round of the tournament has recorded a total of 66 goals scored in 16 games played over the weekend. “It was a super Sunday indeed and the enthusiasm shown by the teams is quite impressive. The more the goals, the more exciting the tournament becomes and all the teams show that they are focusing on the championship crown,” said Bulunga.

The minister added that the standard of the tournament was sky-high and they were looking forward to the Last 16 draw. He further congratulated the big three teams who delivered a great performance and made it through to the second round, which will be played in January. The Chairman of the tournament, Prince Hlangabeza Dlamini, also shared similar sentiments with the minister as he highlighted that the most significant thing about the tournament was the shower of goals recorded. “The standard of the tournament is very high and the most important thing are the goals which add more hype to the competition, said Dlamini.

The prince further congratulated the big three for the spectacular performances and said that they were looking forward to even more fun in the second round of the tournament. Meanwhile, Eswatini Football Association’s Chief Executive Officer Frederick Mngomezulu commended the fans’ support and said the association was in a fight to elevate the standard of soccer in the kingdom. “The support shown by the fans is widely appreciated, though divided but their behaviour was satisfactory. The standard of football in the country is work in progress that we also need to improve in our national team,” said Mngomezulu.
