MBABANE – These are two strong rivals, whenever they clash; none wants to lose to the other.

It is always an exciting match for the fans but Swallows have been having the upper hand lately. Last season, Swallows edged Sundowns 2-1 in first round and then 1-0 in the second round.

Swallows had beaten Sundowns in the season prior to last at Mavuso Sports Centre, a match that was marred by controversial public war of words between the clubs’ officials on national radio, EBIS Morning Sport Show before and after.
The war of words continued last season, this time Swallows were accused of labelling Sundowns inappropriately, same as the former accused them.

Contenders

It is an important game for both sides but it is Swallows that will definitely want to take the maximum points home, given they can still finish on second and above their rivals and title contenders, Mbabane Highlanders, Young Buffaloes and Royal Leopard, while finishing the round four points adrift leaders Green Mamba.

With the league set to resume next January, Swallows know what this win will mean to the fans as they always want to stay above capital city rivals Highlanders.

It will also boost the players’ confidence that they can still defend their title even though they do need to add a few experienced players in the January window period. Sundowns on the other hand lost 1-0 to Vovovo and are up against a side that won 2-1 against Tambuti.

Ensemble

The Basop IKappa ensemble as Sundowns are also fondly known, cannot afford to lose yet another game if they hope to finish within the top eight, on sixth to be precise.
A win takes them to 18 points while a point will still be enough to see them attain the sixth spot. It will undoubtedly be one tough and long match for both sides.
