MBABANE – Are the days of coach Ernest Mavuso numbered at beleaguered Matsapha United?

Reports suggest the sugar-belt side are bringing on board well-known Zimbabwe-born gaffer Rodwell Dhlakama. The former Manzini Sundowns coach is already in the country and according to impeccable sources, he is set to be unveiled before the end of week.

Matsapha United PRO Bheka Magagula said his office was yet to learn about the latest developments and politely asked to consult with management. After consulting, he said management said there were no changes at the team, saying if there were developments, the media would be briefed after a meeting that was scheduled to take place last night.

Matsapha Chairman Sibusiso ‘Scorpion’ Nxumalo, who is also a Member of Parliament (MP) for Madlengempisi, could not be drawn for comment as his phone rang unanswered when sought.

Meanwhile, Dhlakama used to be Zimbabwe’s national Under-17 team coach. He had a stint with Sundowns back in 2012 and steered the side to the Eswatini Telecom Charity Cup title. He got the best coach gong.

He resurfaced in the country in January this year to technically assist the Manzini-based ensemble for two weeks. He could not be reached for comment at the time of compiling this report.

Matsapha, on the other hand, are enduring a disastrous campaign since their restructuring at the beginning of the campaign. They are at the basement of the charts and are on six points after winning twice in 11 attempts. When the team reformed at the beginning of the season, they appointed Mavuso as their head coach.
