MBABANE – She is ready to hoist the kingdom’s flag beyond our borders. Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) top athlete, Winile Mnisi, left the kingdom yesterday morning on a road trip to the mountainous Kingdom of Lesotho, where she will be participating in the sixth edition of the Basotho’s annual Summer Marathon.

The event will take centre stage on Saturday.  The national athlete and former Imbube Marathon champion, said she will be competing in the 42km category and promised nothing but the best.

“I am ready for the Summer Marathon competition and I believe that I am well prepared to lift the kingdom’s flag up high with a podium finish,” she said.
Mnisi revealed that this was her third participation in the same event, and the last time she ranked ninth after completing the race in about 03:30 hours. She said that her target was to improve her finishing time.

She said that her last week 21km race, organised by Manzini Striders, served as a rehearsal for the Summer Marathon. Last week she was crowned the lady champion, clocking 01:34 hours.
“My target is to be in the top 10 but I am self-driven and I believe I will up my game and complete the race in less than 03:00 hours,” she said.
Mnisi is expected to return home on Sunday.
