MBABANE – He might soon return to torment defenders in Africa’s premier club competition. After being sidelined by a serious head injury for over a year, Mbabane Swallows marksman Sabelo ‘Sikhali’Ndzinisa has been registered for the 2018/19 CAF Champions League campaign which gets underway this week.

Ndzinisa was present during the team’s farewell at the Prince of Wales Ground in Mbabane yesterday. Swallows are leaving for Tanzania to face Simba Sports Club in CAF Champions League preliminary round first leg match on Wednesday.

While Ndzinisa will not feature in the game against the Tanzanians, reports suggest he could be fully recovered for at least the group stages.
Swallows PRO Jackson Dlamini confirmed that the gifted forward was registered for the CAF campaign.

‘Sikhali’ was injured in August last year, and missed the entire 2017/2018 season. Before the unfortunate incident, he had become a household name in the continent and shot to fame with his hat-trick in the 4-2 win over South Africa’s Platinum Stars in the continent’s second-tier club competition styled CAF Confederation Cup on May 24 last year.

Meanwhile, 16 players are travelling to Tanzania. Those missing out include the injured pair of Mandla Palma and Simanga Shongwe, as well as recruit Phumlani Ngwenya.

All three coaches in suspended Thabo ‘Koki’ Vilakati, Kinnah Phiri, and Musa Manyatsi are part of the 30-member delegation.
Eswatini Football Association (EFA) CEO Frederick Mngomezulu made a stop at the venue to bid farewell to the team on behalf of government. He said EFA Executive Member Sikhumbuzo Dlamini will be the head of delegation.

“This is a new chapter.

“Swallows management should be commended for preparing the team,” said Mngomezulu.
The team is expected to leave this morning by road to connect a flight at 5:30pm at OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg, South Africa. The game will be played in Dar es Salaam at 4pm (3pm local time).
