MBABANE - The Lavumisa Climbers Club are living up to their slogan. This, after the club resolved to contribute E100 towards helping under-privileged families under the Lavumisa area.

This was confirmed by the club’s Chairman, Bonginkhosi Phakathi, yesterday.
“The club convened a meeting last Saturday at Roadside B&B to discuss preparations for the next event as we are getting closer to the end of the year. Members came in numbers and some in their branded T-shirts, and painted the place maroon,” Phakathi said.

He further said the club seek to transform the lives of the people of Lavumisa.
“The club seeks to achieve this through multiple avenues and raise funds through strategic partnerships and start commercially viable and sustainable projects within Lavumisa, from which the community shall be the primary beneficiary,” he said.

He also said that to live to their tagline, “We walk to change lives” during this meeting members unanimously resolved that all members must contribute a certain amount to the underprivileged.

“We will contribute a minimum of E100 before the end of November and we identify (through the umphakatsi) two families which we shall consider to be needy and buy them food hampers so that they can have a lovely Christmas. We understand that Christmas is a time to give and be merry and the members want to do that for the families. During this day, we hope to continue educating all stakeholders around Lavumisa and the country at large about who we are and what we stand for as a club,” he added.

He also appealed to other social clubs, the business community, and Lavumisa Town Board and donor community to assist them in any way possible.
“We want to ensure that the identified families have a merry Christmas like all families. It is planned that on December 1, 2018 the club shall officially present the hampers to the identified families. We have selected this day as some of our members are teachers and would like to witness this first of its kind event before schools close,” he said.
