MBABANE – Eswatini will certainly have representatives in this year’s Oyama kyokushinkaikan Karate World Cup in China next week.

At least the country’s government, through the Swaziland National Sport and Recreational Council (SNSRC), has ensured Eswatini’s flag is flown high in the Oyama Karate main event.

“We have finalised our team based on the funding we have. We’ll be taking four athletes now instead of four along with me as their official. The SNSRC has made it possible for us by purchasing our tickets,” confirmed Oyama Association President Shihan Mfanafuthi Vilakati yesterday.
He said the tickets cost around E55 000, including insurance of E10 500.

“We’re grateful to SNSRC for making this trip possible with a tight budget. Oyama is humbled by their unfailing support,” he said.
He added that they were also still hopeful for more assistance from the private sector, as they were about to finalise talks with some.
He said they would reveal further assistance in due course before departure next Wednesday for the event that kicks off next Saturday.
