MBABANE – Elite league teams are not-so pleased with the new pre-sale tickets system.

Teams have written to the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE), complaining about the system which was introduced at the beginning of the current season. According to some of the concerns, which this publication is in possession of, they allege the system is unreliable.

While applauding the PLE’s effort to improve the collection of match fees through the pre-sale tickets arrangement, they have major concerns about it.
“As affiliates, from the initial, we acknowledged that like any new initiative, there would be teething problems at the beginning, but that these would be dealt with in good time. We have, however, waited patiently for operations to improve, to no avail, hence we would like to register the following concerns pertaining the current collection system,” read the statement by Manzini Wanderers

Among the alleged concerns is that the tickets are not always available in the selling outlets, leading to them being sold at the stadium again, when that was the sole purpose the system was introduced, to avoid queues during games.

Wanderers also allege the returns are remitted late, which then affects their operations as they use the money to run the club.
“The delayed transfers of the said monies, negatively impacts on the operations of the football clubs. In addition, at present, there is no way to veto what is eventually transferred to the teams from what is collected,” read the letter in part from the Hub giants.
Mbabane Swallows, through their PRO Jackson Dlamini, also concurred with Wanderers’ concerns.

“Our supporters are not attending games like they used to. This is because they cannot access the tickets in the said outlets. We urge the PLE to address these concerns because it’s killing the game. We appreciate their effort in professionalising the sport but they should engage the teams and supporters,” Dlamini said.
Meanwhile, Mbabane Citizens co-Director Bheki ‘Rubber’ Simelane said while they appreciated the new innovative system, they should try and address the challenges.
