MBOMBELA – Royal Eswatini Police Services (REPS) long distance runner Winile Mnisi came second in the Ehlanzeni Tourism Sports Day 10km race on Saturday.

Mnisi was among the over 40 emaSwati who competed in the race held at the Mbombela Stadium (South Africa). She clocked 40:15:05 minutes to win the second prize of E1 500. The winner was South Africa’s Faring.
Mnisi said she went to the race to improve on her speed, as she was preparing for the Lesotho Marathon set for December 1 in Maseru.

“It was not all about competing but I used the race as a training session. I’m preparing for the Lesotho Marathon and I’ve noticed that my speed, especially towards finishing, is not good.
“ I came here to improve. The Lesotho Marathon route is mountainous, so I have to be at my level best ahead of the race,” she said.
Mnisi was the first liSwati in the Imbube Marathon to cross the finish line in the ladies section. She is currently the queen of the road in the country, having dominated in the past few years.
