MANZINI – Just a few hours before Sihlangu take on the mighty Egypt in an AFCON 2019 qualifier, interim coach Anthony Mdluli sees winning against the ‘Pharoahs’ as merely a wish.

According to the coach, the locals are highly intimidated by the second-ranked nation on the continent.
Mdluli, who has never won any official game, is not optimistic Sihlangu can surprise the continental giants today.

“Egypt is very strong, they will continue being strong tomorrow (today) and they will be difficult as they were when we played them on Friday,” he said.
This was during a press briefing that followed after a short training session of the team.

Professionals

“Winning is just a wish for the team and country, it all depends on performance and not merely wishing,” said Mdluli.
He said the Egyptians were true professionals and did not take Sihlangu lightly despite the fact that they were underdogs.

“Playing home will not change anything; the Egyptian team will still be as strong as they were in the first leg,” said the mentor. He added that they have psychologically assisted players by making them aware that big names did not really count in football but how each team approached the game was the key factor.

He said they would try and fix most of the mistakes they made during the first leg, highlighting allowing the Pharaohs more space to play.
