LOBAMBA – Manzini Regional Football Association Chairman Johannes ‘Ace’ Siboza is leading Sihlangu to Egypt.

The national soccer outfit will leave this morning en route to Cairo, Egypt, to honour an Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against the ‘Pharaohs’ on Friday. Eswatini Football Association (EFA) president representative in CEO Frederick Mngomezulu announced that the seasoned Executive Member would lead the national team, made up of 20 players and at least 10 officials. He was speaking during a brief farewell function held at the EFA Technical Centre in Lobamba last night.

In his remarks, Mngomezulu stressed that the players should not get cold feet against the star-studded opponents, saying all the necessary requirements for the team’s safe travel and stay were made.

“We hope the players will recover for the back-to-back fixtures. We can encourage you not to fear the Egypt stars. We trust you can do the job,” Mngomezulu told the players.

Sihlangu will leave by road this morning to connect a flight in Johannesburg en route to their final destination. They are expected to arrive in Egypt tomorrow morning in time for the 7pm showdown on Friday. They will return on Sunday night.

Meanwhile, during the farewell function, it also transpired that Egypt’s advance party arrived in the country over a week ago in preparation for the return match to be played next Tuesday at Mavuso Sports Centre.
