MBABANE – There will be no MTN Premier League action for the next two weeks.

Week five fixtures will only resume on October 20 after the FIFA week, set to start next Tuesday. The league games will give way to the national team, Sihlangu preparations for the AFCON two legged games against Egypt and the Imbube marathon billed for Sunday at Somhlolo National Stadium.

Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Simanga Nhleko confirmed yesterday that only the MTN National First Division League games will continue this weekend.
He said due to the busy schedule of Sihlangu and the Imbube Marathon on the way, they will take the two weeks break and be back in action after the FIFA Week.

The country’s national league started very late this season as it kicked-off September 15 due to national events and FIFA week.
Sihlangu under Anthony Mdluli started full time camp yesterday in preparations of the AFCON Cameroon 2019 qualifiers games against Egypt billed for October 12 (away) and four days later at Mavuso Sports Centre.

“Sihlangu is heading for very crucial games against Egypt and they are the one to determine their future in the qualifiers. They made a request to be given more time to prepare and there is also the Imbube Marathon which is a national event, so we decided to take the break,” he said.

EFA Communications and Marketing Officer Muzi Radebe confirmed yesterday that Sihlangu was already at camp. The team was announced on Sunday and it includes some international players in South Africa’s National First Division League’s Mbombela United Felix Badenhorst and ABSA Premiership League side Maritzburg United Justice Figareido.

Highlighting the week five of the MTN League fixtures is a match between log leaders Royal Leopard and fifth placed Mbabane Highlanders. Leopard has recorded a 100% start in the league winning four of their opening matches with Green Mamba. They both have 12 points.
