MBABANE – Last season’s runners-up Young Buffaloes will be seeking their first win tonight against Matsapha United.

Buffaloes settled for a goalless draw against Mbabane Highlanders last Sunday in their second encounter in the season, having lost 0-2 to defending champions, Mbabane Swallows in their opening match four days earlier. This match was billed for the league opener between the two sides, but it was postponed after a request by Matsapha United. Buffaloes who ended their last campaign chasing Mbabane Swallows for the title started slowly to the season failing to break up Highlanders last Sunday with the goalless draw at Somhlolo National Stadium.

Their strikers, Phiwa Dlamini and Ndoda Mthethwa, have not found their scoring formula and they are struggling upfront to score the much-needed goals. Buffaloes’ coach Dominic Kunene showed confidence to his newly-promoted players from the development side in the likes of Sibonelo Sibandze and Lindani Matsenjwa, who played part in the goalless draw against Highlanders. Kunene is likely to give the youngsters as he still has some senior players, including Mphile Tsabedze and Dumisani Mdluli.

On paper they are favourites to win the match, but playing against new comers in Matsapha United where status was given to Mhlume Peacemakers, makes it hard for them. Matsapha United have had a good start in the season considering that it is the maiden season. After two games, they are sixth on the log with three points with a win 2-0 win against Tambuti before they crashed 1-2 to Manzini Wanderers. The squad had the experienced players who can stand out against Buffaloes including former Green Mamba player Clement Sibandze and former Mbabane Swallows Manqoba Zwane.
