MBABANE – He is the new Matsapha United boss That is Mhlume Peacemakers’ Managing Director Sibusiso ‘Scorpion’ Nxumalo whose team bought the elite status of Matsapha United who also traded as the ‘Deep Blue Ocean’.

The status was sold to him, a deal announced by Matsapha’s lawyer Zakhele Dlamini last Monday in a press conference held at The George Hotel in Manzini.
Nxumalo who is also former Peacemakers player, sources allege, paid a hefty sum to own the elite status. His team was billed to play in the Lubombo Super League but after this deal, their name stays in the Super League while they become Matsapha until the formal change of names takes place within the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) which must get a name change application from Peacemakers.

“The PLE is excited to receive Sibusiso ‘Scorpion’ Nxumalo as Matsapha United PLE Board of Governor. We got a letter from Matsapha United confirming his appointment into the Board,” confirmed PLE COO Pat Vilakati when questioned if the recently reported transaction of the club and Peacemakers had been reported to them.

He said other than the change of governors, there was nothing else they received but take the appointment as confirmation of the latest reports. No immediate comment could be obtained from Nxumalo whose cellphone repeatedly rang unanswered before going unavailable on the network.

Ex-Matsapha United co-director Victor Malambe also could not be sought for comment as he had raised concern when Matsapha officially announced they were selling the club’s elite status. Then Matsapha United’s General Manager Sifiso Shongwe also could not be reached when sought.
