MBABANE – Sihlangu have endured a frustrating outing in Lesotho. The Anthony Mdluli-led ensemble were away at Setsoto Stadium in Lesotho for preparatory matches between Sunday and yesterday. They lost 1-0 on the first day and suffered a 2-0 defeat yesterday. A correspondent in Lesotho confirmed the result.

The games are staged in preparation for the crunch Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Africa’s top-ranked side Tunisia next Sunday (September 9).

Finer details of the match were scanty at the time of compiling this report last night.
Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Marketing and Communications Officer, Muzi Radebe had confirmed the matches, but his phone rang unanswered when sought for comment on the result last night.
The side is expected back home today.

Following yesterday’s setback, Sihlangu have failed to score a goal in four straight matches in all competitions. They fired blanks in the disastrous campaign in the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) Cup in Polokwane, South Africa, in June.

They lost 1-0 to Lesotho in the first match in the quarter-finals and were defeated 2-0 by Botswana in the semi-finals of COSAFA’s second-tier tournament styled Plate.
A full squad to go in camp for the September AFCON showdown will be confirmed after Mbabane Swallows’ CAF Champions League game against Club Desportivo away in Angola today.
About 20 players are currently in camp.
They include the three goalkeepers in Young Buffaloes’ Nhlanhla Gwebu, Khanyakezwe Shabalala of Mbabane Highlanders, as well as Royal Leopard’s Phephisani Msibi.
