MBABANE – The wait for a team to represent the Shiselweni Region in the National First Division is over.

Rangers, the southern Super League champions, had challenged the decision by the Shiselweni Regional Football Association to order a replay of their play-offs.  Rangers had won the play-offs ahead of Young Movers, but the SRFA ordered a replay after one of the teams was involved in a protest with Movers, who were champions from the north.

The result of the protest had no effect on the log standings, as Movers still qualified for the play-offs as winners from their stream.
The winners from both zones play in two-legged play-offs and the winner gets ticket to the National First Division.
After being ordered to play the play-offs again, Rangers ran to court and the matter was referred back to the Appeals Board. It was heard last Friday and Rangers were granted their wish.

Team Secretary Thokozani Ndzinisa said they were relieved that the matter was now water under the bridge, saying focus was now on building a formidable team to compete in the National First Division.
“We have lined up practice matches against Green Mamba and Young Buffaloes.

“We hope to leave a mark in the National First Division,” he said.
Rangers will be the second Shiselweni team in the country’s football second-tier alongside Hlatikulu Tycoons. Amalanda and Mahlalini were relegated in the past season.
