MBABANE – Former Manzini Regional Football Association (MRFA) Secretary Njabulo Mabuza has withdrawn his appeal after challenging the authenticity of the elections results.

MRFA went to the polls during an elective congress at Princess Pholile Hall in Malkerns, where Johannes ‘Ace’ Siboza won the chairmanship race ahead of Mabuza and former Chairman Samuel Shongwe last Sunday. In a letter forwarded to the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) last Tuesday, Mabuza had challenged the results, claiming the 50%+1 simple majority was not achieved.

Figures provided by Electoral Officer Dr Comfort Shongwe showed that Siboza won with 58 votes while Mabuza got 30. Samuel got 20, a result that was being challenged by Mabuza.

Mabuza, in his letter, had said his records showed that Samuel got 28, which made it impossible for Siboza to achieve a simple majority.
According to Dr Shongwe’s figures, a simple majority needed to be achieved with 55 votes.
Mabuza confirmed that he had withdrawn, citing personal reasons.
