MBABANE – Giants Manzini Wanderers are reportedly in a bid to stop Nigeria-born forward Aladeon Kola from appearing in rivals Mbabane Swallows’ colours on Sunday.

The High Court cleared the player to the red and white ensemble in the past week following a tug-of-war over his signature pending a determination of an appeal by Wanderers at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Switzerland. With reports suggesting Swallows will parade the player’s in Sunday’s EswatiniTelecom Charity Cup at Somhlolo National Stadium, it is said the maroon and white outfit have now considered approaching the High Court seeking clarity on Kola’s eligibility to play for the Mbabane-based ensemble in the Charity Cup.

It is said to be Wanderers’ belief that the player is only eligible to play for their rivals in the CAF Champions League.
Before the end of the week, the aggrieved party hopes to have been assisted on the issue.

The High Court granted Swallows special leave to register the player in execution of a ruling of the Players Status Committee, which cleared Kola to the capital city giants for the period June 1 to August 31, 2018.

In  its ex-tempore (at the time) ruling, the Court made no finding on the validity or otherwise of the contracts concerning the striker, saying it was a task of an appeal body on the matter.
Wanderers said the player extended his stay with team on accepting a E55 000 signing-on fee late in May.

Wanderers lawyer Bongani ‘Bhanyaza’ Mdluli did not want to be dragged for comment on the issue. After last Monday’s ruling, he had sought clarity if Kola would only be released for the three months and High Court Judge Dorris Shabalala had responded to the affirmative.
Team CEO Pat Mahlalela also politely asked not comment on the issue and said he was in no position to react on reports suggesting Swallows will field the player on Sunday.

Swallows lawyer Zakhele Dlamini said he was yet to learn about the latest developments when sought for comment last night.
