WE NEVER CAME TO THE PARTY - ‘KOKI’

MANZINI - “Nothing comes easy but it all takes serious work”. These are words Mbabane Swallows coach Thabo ‘Koki’ Vilakati can learn from, and interestingly they were uttered by his rival colleague in Étoile du Sahel’s Lili Chiheb during the post-match press conference at Mavuso Sports Centre on Tuesday afternoon. Swallows lost the TOTAL CAF Champions League group stage’s Group D tie by 0-3 and still have second leg away next Friday.

“We didn’t play well and didn’t come to the party. Etoile’s exposure and experience to these games showed, as they opened holes and were first on high balls. In the second half we saw a bit of movement of the ball, even though we didn’t create any chances,” Vilakati said.
He also sang praises to youngster Richard Mccreesh for his great performance, playing deep in midfield and assisting the defence while he also moved forward with the ball confidently.

“I should take the credit for this boy’s performance because after everything, I felt we can’t then neglect him, as in the end it’s the talent that is important. We can sort out the off-the-field problems while making sure this talent comes to use,” he said.

He also admitted that their preparations were not up to scratch as they had some challenges to deal with, when they should have played friendly matches. He then pointed out that they further did not get every player ready despite unveiling new signees last week but only one was registered and played in the match yesterday, and that is Tawarallie Sallieu, who impressed in the few minutes he was given.
