MBABANE – Former Mbabane Swallows striker Mohammed Anas will not be joining the club this season, it has been confirmed.

Anas, who was known as Mike in the country, was yesterday unveiled by South Africa’s ABSA Premiership League side, Polokwane City. Anas made an appearance last week at Swallows training at the Prince of Wales Sports Ground.

Missing out during the unveiling was former Swallows midfielder Banele ‘Pupu’ Sikhondze, who is due to join the club on Sunday. Sikhondze was in the country yesterday and he is set to leave on Saturday to start training on Monday with the South African team.

According to Kick-off.com, Anas was unveiled together with former FC Cape Town head coach Jozef Vukusic and six other players. The 53-year-old Vukusic, who hails from Slovakia, takes over from Bernard Molekwa, who guided Rise and Shine to 12th position in the Absa Premiership last season.

The players unveiled with Anas were Lehlohonolo Nhlapo, Themba Chauke, Khayalethu Mjoli, Tebogo Kalake, Bongani Manavhela and Msekeli Mvalo. Anas played for Manzini Wanderers and Swallows. He was described among top of the players signed for the new season.

Anas played a key part in their Nedbank Cup triumph. He could form a formidable strike-force with Polokwane stalwart Rodney Ramagalela, who was the joint Golden Boot winner with Mamelodi Sundowns star Percy Tau on 11 league goals last season.
