MANZINI - He had a bullet in his head! This was the shocking revelation that was given to murdered Matsapha United fan, Kenneth ‘Zungu’ Zikalala’s family yesterday.

The jaw-dropping new piece of information was relayed by his elder brother Bheki, who said the family was still perplexed by the latest developments regarding 44-year-old ‘Zungu’, as he was known. He said the autopsy also revealed that the soccer fanatic was shot at close range.
Bheki said this was communicated to them by police officers after a post-mortem was conducted.

assumed

Bheki said this was mystifying because when Kenneth’s body was discovered last Friday morning, there was one wound at the back of his head that was assumed to be from a knife or a sharp object. However, after the autopsy report, the dejected brother said the family had more unanswered questions.
In his knowledge, Bheki said his brother resided between Kwaluseni and Eteni, opposite the University of Swaziland.
He said Kenneth had two residential areas because he was self-employed and that due to his business, he sometimes found himself forced to stay at one of these places.

Further, on the night before his body was discovered, Bheki said information gathered by the family was that he had been enjoying drinks with his friends at a drinking hole near Salt and Pepper in Matsapha.
Bheki added that the said friends informed the family that during the drinking spree, Kenneth was constantly on the phone with an unknown caller.
“During his conversation with the caller, Kenneth was said to have shown signs of distress and that he was agitated,” Bheki said.

At around 10:30pm, the brother further stated that Kenneth was said to have went out of the bar since it was noisy. At that time, the friends were supposedly playing a snooker game and did not pay much attention to his movements.
However, when the bar was closed at 11pm, Bheki said information gathered was to the effect that the friends asked for some time to look for Kenneth whom they thought was locked up in a toilet, considering his state of sobriety.
befell

“It was then that they discovered that he was not there but they did not anticipate that the worst had befell him until the next morning after receiving the report of his death,” Bheki said.
Kenneth’s body was discovered by Nhlambeni Primary School pupils, who were on their way to school last Friday morning. The body was said to have been found lying in a thicket by the road near Esikhaleni Selusekwane.
Chief Police Information and Communications Officer Superintendent Khulani Mamba confirmed the matter but said he would not delve much into the details. Still, Mamba said investigations were ongoing.

The motive behind the death of the soccer lover was not ascertained at the time, especially after all his belongings were found in on him. Among these items was an undisclosed sum of money that was in his wallet, a cellphone and business cards.
After the spine-chilling discovery, some members of the community were of the view that he was not from around the area because he was unknown to them.
